| Dr.
Jeffrey Drebin is Chief of the Division
of Gastrointestinal Surgery and Vice-Chairman for Research
in the Department of Surgery. His clinical interests include
pancreatic cancer; acute and chronic pancreatitis; primary and metastatic
liver tumors; disorders of the bile ducts, including bile duct reconstructive
surgery; gastric cancer; laparoscopic and open approaches to disorders
of the spleen; and management of gallbladder disease.
His clinical research interests include
the multidisciplinary management of pancreatic cancer, the use of
new technologies for the management of liver tumors and the testing
of novel approaches to the diagnosis and staging of hepatobiliary
and pancreatic tumors. He also supervises an NIH funded basic research
laboratory developing new approaches to the targeted therapy of
gastrointestinal malignancies. He has authored numerous journal
articles and textbook chapters related to his clinical and basic
research interests.
Dr. Drebin serves in leadership positions
with a number of national organizations related to his clinical
activities, including serving as Chairman of the Pancreas Cancer
Committee of the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer,
serving on the Executive Council of the Society for Surgical Oncology,
and serving as a Member of the American College of Surgeons Oncology
Group Gastrointestinal Cancer Committee.
