Dr. Resnick’s principal clinical interest is gastrointestinal surgery. In particular, he is interested in minimally invasive surgery, performing laparoscopic surgery for benign and malignant processes including the entire GI tract, hernias, and splenic disorders. He also performs complex open procedures for many disease processes, including tumors of the stomach, pancreas, small and large bowel, and large recurrent abdominal wall hernias.

Dr. Resnick serves as Director of the Penn Clinical Simulation Center, where he oversees the new 22,000 sq ft facility which is dedicated to improving the training of all healthcare workers in order to maximize medical education and patient safety. In addition, he serves on the Peri-operative Executive Committee and has an interest in operational management.

Dr. Resnick graduated summa cum laude from Dartmouth College in 1995 with High Honors in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He then enrolled at the Yale University School of Medicine, graduating in 2000 after taking an extra year to complete the Howard Hughes/National Institutes of Health Research Scholars Program from 1997-1998. Dr. Resnick has always been very interested in administration and operational management in the hospital and has completed an M.B.A. at The Wharton School, majoring in healthcare management. His research activities focus primarily on the interaction between operational efficiency, education, and patient safety.
